Description

This wall has a lot of fun face climbs that start out easier from the right and get progressively harder as you move to the climbers left. The climbs on the left have shade from some of the trees.

Getting There

Take Mt Lemmon highway to MP 20 at Organization Ridge road. Park at Palisades Trailhead parking walk 50' south to drainage on east side, go uphill on a contour line to large black stump. Follow cairns east then south to crag, 15-20 minutes.

The trail from the parking to the top of the cliff/branch to Cave Wall is awesome, but the trail from the top of the cliff to Incinerated Ridge/Tall Wall could use some more cairns. We built several on our way down and still managed to get lost whe the sun set on us and had to do a heinious 100 yard bushwack, in the dark, carrying the hound. So please stop and build 1-2 cairns on your way down.
Thanks :-) Oct 10, 2011

There is a lot of slab climbing, but this wall is great rock, solid moves (very mental at times), great views, and the protection is excellent. I had the good fortune of meeting a member of the FA team on a trip this weekend and he was a great host. Definitely worth a day trip and I can't wait to go back to try the Cave Crag and the Tall Wall! Oct 24, 2010

It was a little hard to find the trail, don't go to the first black stump walk south on the road until you find some Cairns and then follow the trail. Their was some logging recently so the trail was torn up in some places but I added some markers along the way.

The crag was bolted heavily in some places but all the clipping stances were perfect. Just as a note the entire half portion of every climb is slab with really thin moves. I would recommend the Tall Wall right next to Incinerated Ridge. May 25, 2009

The whole outcroppings area is really a great location. It's obvious someone put a lot of attention, time, and money into the area. The bolts are well placed (both in distance apart and location). As well, the lower grade climbs are equally well protected making it a great/safe location for beginning leaders. Thanks to those who put an obviously large amount of time into this location! While there is some nice face climbing here, there is also a lot of SLAB :)

Also, there is a fair amount of rockfall due to the new-ness of the area. We wore helmets today and were glad for it. We saw a fair bit of rock (nothing huge) raining down from the large party next to us. Use caution. This issue should resolve quickly as routes get climbed more. Sep 21, 2008
