Description

This cave is a great winter spot its south-facing wall is located a couple hundred feet above CO Highway 74 (Bear Creek Rd.) just about a mile from the town of Morrison. There is only one route up there, but perhaps more could go in. The rock is amazing down low and deteriorates up high but still climbs well and really give a little sense of adventure.

Getting There

Travel west through the town of Morrison on Highway 8 and at the end of town merge onto CO Highway 74 still heading west (CO Highway 74 is Bear Creek Rd.) Travel 1.1 mile from the intersection of CO 8 and CO 74. The road will make a rounded "s" bend and park on your left at a little pullout on the shoulder. The is a little, steel bridge over the river on your left that makes a good landmark. From there, the cave is on the North side of the road a couple hundred feet up. It's barely visible, but it's there. Watch out for loose rocks on the hike up, because you can trundle them into the road.
