The Beehive Wall

California > Inland Empire > Riverside Area > Mt Rubidoux > Borson's Area

Description

Located just below the Peace Bridge and the road, this wall/boulder offers over a dozen entertaining problems on coarse but solid rock and of approximately 15 feet in height--a nice height when bouldering alone.

The landings for the problems are mostly excellent, although a stone and mortar bench sits a few inches off the ground at the base of several problems (it's fairly easy to avoid if you know you're going to fall).

This is probably one of the best places to visit at Rubidoux if you're an intermediate climber looking to get in a quick bouldering session after work. The problems range between V-easy and V6 in difficulty. Because of the compact spread of the problems on this wall, many variations are possible--including a high traverse of the entire wall.

In the past, a lively beehive existed at the right end of the wall and could add extra excitement to a bouldering session. It seems to have been destroyed at some point during the past two years.

Getting There

From Peace Bridge, follow stairs below the road to this obvious wall.
