Access Issue: Annual Trail Closures to protect Peregrine falcons Details

Description

Sea side bouldering in a spectacular setting. This area doesn't hold the best bouldering in the park, but a good quick hit if your in the park and climbing isn't your main agenda. The rock is a coarse granite and the problems range from V0-V5. This area is basically a long vertical wall with many good easy problems, and a small roof at the right end.

Getting There

From the center of Bar Harbor take rt 3. Take a left onto Otter Cliff road, the parking lot is on the right at the end of the road.
From the lot: walk the road and take a left onto Park Loop road, the trail down into the cove is on the right.

This is one of my favorite spots for some quick laps on fun problems. My favorite problems are the one going up the arete on the right side of the break in the wall, and the one coming out from under the right side of the roof. Also, walking in either direction (towards sand beach or otter cliffs) will find a wealth of small bouldering spots. Jun 5, 2010

Matt-- I believe I ended up parking the Gorham Mountain Trailhead parking. And then I walked back along the road for a little bit to a trail on the right that leads down to the boulders. You can see the boulders from the road. May 13, 2018
