The Schoolyard

Colorado > Carbondale Area > Narrows

Description

This area offers some great easier routes, and one of the best climbs at the Narrows, Been Caught Stealin'. It's also one of the few spots here that is good for groups, with a nice area to hang out in below the walls.

Getting There

Follow the main trail for about 15 to 20 minutes until you come to an open area below the obvious buttress.

The left turn to Schoolyard while coming up the trail. If you go right of the big boulder in the photo, that puts you at Front Porch.

[Hide Comment] Went climbing here yesterday. The trail from the road is super obvious right behind the guard rail on the north end of the Penny Hot Springs parking. There seems to be a significant rockslide/fall in the gully separating The Schoolyard from The Narrows proper crag to the right and Industrial Wall to the left. Don't know what happened (looks like a significant rain event type of flow). It would be nice to get some trail work done here to make the trail more stable. Jun 10, 2022
