Timewave Buttress

International > N America > Mexico > Nuevo Leon > El Potrero Chico

Description

South-facing buttress just right of Surf Bowl. Home to the infamous Time Wave Zero which starts on the left side of this buttress and eventually goes to the top of Sierra San Miguel's west side. The buttress is a little more secluded that other crags in Potrero, which makes it a good beginner spot on a busy day in the canyon. Also has incredible views of the canyon.

Getting There

Hike up to the Agujas/Spires and move left over the saddle and aim for the Surf Bowl. Just below the Surf Bowl, look for a trail going right to the Buttress and the first bolt up the slab of TWZ.

[Hide Comment] The trail up here is anything but obvious. Even started on the correct trail, you'll be faced with numerous options branching off in all directions. The key is to stay left as if you plan to climb on La Agujas. Continue along the face of the Agujas and arrive at the saddle directly above them. If you stray off the right towards the Outrage Wall, you'll be on the Approach from Hell with cactus and steep 4th-class rock. Mar 15, 2019
