Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures ***** RAIN AND WET ROCK ***** The sandstone in Zion is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN ZION during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp (and not powdery dry sand), then do not climb. There are many alternatives (limestone, granite, basalt, and plastic) nearby. Description

Paria Point is the prominent and striking buttress on the north side of the canyon formed by the South Fork of Taylor Creek. It helps form the mouth of the canyon and is home to the classic routes Wind, Sand, and Stars and Sunlight Buttress.

Getting There

Drive into the Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park, accessed from Interstate 15. There is a large parking lot where the road makes a sharp switchback to the right. There is a park trail across the road, leading into the canyon.
