Description

Bariloche is a mid sized town with a full size climbing problem located in Patagonia near the border with Chile. Opportunities for climbing abound in the surrounding mountains and countryside. Bariloche has sport climbing of all levels up to 5.14 and various rock types. Hike a few hours to enjoy trad climbing at the alpine granite playground of Frey.

The updated local guidebook from 2025 is available at JG Deportes in the Centro.

On rainy or cold days there are a few local climbing gyms scattered throughout town. Check out La Luna Muro at km 7.5, Muro del Nahuel in the Centro.

Getting There

Daily flights originate from all over South America. Other options include bus from Osorno, Chile or various towns throughout Argentina.
