Exit 49

Colorado > Grand Junction… > De Beque Canyon

Description

There is a multitude of adventure climbing around Exit 49, south of I-70. There are several sandstone buttresses and towers that vary in height from 25 feet to well over 100 feet within 20 minutes hike of CO Highway 65 and I-70.

Getting There

Heading east from Grand Junction on I-70, take exit 49 towards Powderhorn Ski area. When the 1-way southbound exit joins northbound Highway 65, make a U-turn and drive back toward I-70. There is a parking area near the I-70 east entrance on the west (left) side of the road, across from an obvious detached tower.
