Description

Resaquita Wall lies at the far west end of the Children's Forest; an east-facing, overhanging red and black wall with several good, pumpy routes. Among the highlights are My Heroes Have Always Been Old Guys (5.11b), Sureshot (5.12a) and Where Have all the Cowboys Gone? (5.10b). The quality of the rock is quite good, although the routes are a little dirty from lack of traffic, and there is lichen and foliage on some. Like elsewhere in Children's Forest, the rock is grainy and the feet stick very well. Resaquita also has a 5.8 crack, Longhorn Lasso, and another 5.10b bolted route, Slim Shady, making this a wall well worth visiting. Although the bolted routes on this wall have bolted anchors, you can easily walk off by heading south, turning either left or right to return to the base of the east face.

Getting There

To get to Resaquita wall, follow the northern trail from Preschool Rock, down the stream bed past the other walls. Resaquita lies a little more than 100 yards past Cardmon Pinnacle, a little south of the stream bed. Allow approximately 20 minutes to hike there from the parking lot.

Perhaps a little difficult to find for the first time but well worth the effort, as this is perhaps the best wall at Children's Forest. The climbs on the right side climb slightly overhanging rock past multiple horizontals - sort of a lightweight version of the Hungover Wall. Sep 22, 2007
