Geothermal Boulders

California > Sierra Eastside > Mammoth Lakes Area > Mammoth Lakes Boulde…

Description

On first inspection the small East facing outcrop doesn't look all that inspiring, however, there are some good problems here. The rock is polished volcanic tuff.

Some of the problems finish fairly high up (25 ft), and at some points along the bottom of the wall the landings are not that good.

Getting There

From Mammoth drive East on the 203, pass underneath the 395 and then make a left turn on Antelope Springs road. Follow this for 1/3 mile, pass under powerlines and then turn right on a small dirt road. Park up where the road swings around to the left. The
can be see 200ft north.
