Description

Legaston quarry was one of the first venues in Scotland where bolting was accepted with little controversy.

Most of the routes in the quarry are protected by bolts and have good anchors to lower off.

Climbing in the quarry is often affected by what the farmer has dumped at the base. Sometimes the smell of rotting trash is too much while other times, the quarry can provide some excellent climbing in a summer evening.

The climbs are located on distinct buttresses.

Getting There

The quarry is situated 2 miles south of the village of Friockheim on the A933 (Arbroath Road). Turn right onto a track, and park up near a house. Follow the track to a locked gate, which to crossed to gain access to the quarry.
