Description
This area is primarily located around the northeastern part of Oregon and centered around LaGrande. It recieves little attention but for the past thirty years there has been a small but active group of climbers in this area doing routes in the local crags and in the Wallowas.
There are now two state wide guides that include routes for Eastern Oregon. One is rather lacking and rather error prone (Falcon) the other is better (Mountaineers) but neither are complete. High Valley, Spring Mountain and several other Northeastern Oregon locations are featured in Tim Olsen's book Northwest Oregon Rock.
Contributors note - I have added place holders for several areas that I have climbed at and will be adding the routes over time. There are other areas that I will let others add in. Because there are many small areas I have placed them all under "Northeastern Oregon" rather than listing them individually and cluttering up the main page.
Oh yeah - Northeastern Oregon does not mean everything east of the Cascades :-).
Formerly contained an area called Elgin Wall, but this has been removed as the property owner does not allow climbing.

I'm not a big fan of placeholders (Blitzo has some on this site that are still blank months after he originally put them in), but as long as you remember to go back and fill them in then go ahead and use them. Aug 14, 2007

Spring Mountain, Wallowa Mountains, and Fiddler's Hell look great.
Please add GPS locations for High Valley, Anthony Lakes, and others. Also, routes in Matterhorn. Is Elgin Wall on private property?
This classification of routes into zone - such as "Northeastern Oregon" - is actually a great idea. I may do the same with the entirety of the Oregon database. Sep 23, 2014
