Parking Lot Boulders

Texas > Austin Area > Bull Creek Park

Description

This area is located immediately north of the dirt parking lot near the creek crossing. The Frontside Boulders contain a large concentration of problems primarily in the V0 to V3 range. The park service has laid down gravel at the base of the Frontside boulders. The boulders themselves are about 15' tall and are well shaded.

The location of these boulders make this an ideal get away for a short evening of bouldering. These rocks are well polished and like sponges, so, after a good rain, the rock itself will be pretty greasy.

Getting There

Walk north from the dirt parking lot near the creek.

[Hide Comment] As much of Austin these days, Bull Creek park has seen its share of "improvements." There is no longer "dirt" parking but rather a paved lot that came along with the bridge construction. This place is not a destination of any kind, but it has a place in the hearts of North ATX climbers just the same. Been putting down pads and drinking beers here for 15 years now, and for a local park bouldering spot (despite the past chipping and drills), it's actually a lot of fun. Many families and dog lovers frequent the other side of the stream on the weekends. It's a mess, but it's Austin's slabby, pocketed, polished, high-ball (ish) bouldering love spot. Jun 10, 2018
