Description

River sandstone bouldering area!!! Great for a day or two of fun if you are in the area and really easy approach. Variety of problems so there is fun here for everyone.

I have not been able to get with some of the guys that developed it or found a complete topo to reference so thought there are many problems listed I am not certain of first ascents or even the names of the routes if they are listed wrong just message me or email me and i'll get to fixin em right away!

Getting There

Mannford, OK nestled west of Tulsa about 20 minutes or so. From highway 51 and highway 48 head north about a mile or so. park near the train tracks (safely please) and walk west down the train tracks to the river. head south along the small cliff band until you reach your desired area!

from what i've seen it's best to go when it's really cold or hasn't rained for a long while. i've seen the rock sweat pretty bad on hot days too. prepare to get muddy. Feb 27, 2009

does anyone know where I can get a topo or guidebook for this place? Oct 7, 2014
Does anyone know a legal way to get to this location other than a boat along the river? The area on both sides of the railroad are marked No Trespassing and the adjacent land to the railroad is marked as private property. Parking your car at the small paved turnout on the north side would surely attract the interests of the railroad police or the landowners. Dec 20, 2014

Access can be had from the VFW off the highway. Walk through the brush behind the building until you hit a dried up creek bed. Follow this down to the purgatory area. Follow the trails on the right side to Zen Pen area. Ladder Tree is no longer there, climb down the right side of the pen. Oct 17, 2016
I'm from NC and swung through here with some friends on the way to Hueco because it was rainy in AR and we were jonesin for rock. We were all pleasantly surprised by this area! We were sketched about the entrance behind the VFW but we asked permission from someone inside and they were very nice. The rock can be a little soft and sandy but there are some really aesthetic lines. Cheers! Dec 5, 2016
I'm flying to Stillwater over Christmas break and would love to check this spot out. If there are any area climbers interested in taking a day trip out here between Dec. 22 and Dec 26 shoot me a message. Cheers! Dec 14, 2017
