Description

This is the 100-foot slab directly below the Schoolroom Area of the Gate Buttress. You can easily walk to the top of this slab and set up topropes from the three 2-bolt stations. The routes are thin and technical but don't require great strength.
Gate Buttress Area Recreational Lease: Climbs on Church Buttress above vault remain closed Details

Getting There

Park at the pullout on the north side of the road, 1.25 miles up LCC from the lighted sign at the mouth. Follow the obvious trail heading west, toward a talus field. Scramble about 200' north up large talus to reach the slab.

Jake is correct, these routes are listed in the wrong area. "Unknown Slab Left" is a route called "The Dingo Bite", bolted by Tony and Connor Calderone. "Unknown Slab Right" is called "The Swing Set" with unknown FA. These routes are actually located on the left side of the Prune Face area. Super short approach and nice flat base. I've taken my 3 year old there. Aug 28, 2017
Not sure where the pictures for the 5.10a and 7+ came from, but they do not depict the university slab-at least according to the new granite guide. The description on the main page accurately depicts the correct location, but those two routes are somewhere else. I added the center route with a correct picture from the base. There are no bolts anywhere on the slab. You might be able to get some trad gear in for the rightmost route but I didn't climb it and didn't look too closely. Jul 13, 2017

So, anyone care to venture a rating on the lines on this slab? Feb 24, 2012

Every climb on this wall is no where near as hard as listed. The rock isn't terribly fun either. Crumbly, thin rock. Avoid. Jul 30, 2007
