Access Issue: Seasonal Rock Climbing Closure - North Face of Tom's Thumb. Details

Description

Lost Bandana Wall is probably the most popular spot at Little Granite Mountain for climbing. Easily accessible and with a number of routes, it is a favorite for groups to come and spend the day. The southern exposure makes it a good winter spot, but conversely turns it into an oven in early fall and late spring.

You can scramble to the top of the wall (or conversely off the wall) via it's right (east) end with a short bit of 4th class climbing.

Getting There

Lost Bandana Wall is accessed from the power line road that comes in off of 136th street from the east. You can park in a number of pullouts.

Currently there are a couple problems with the hangers on this particular crag. Multiple of the hangers on the wall, including one of the anchors at the end of the route are leeper hangers which are inherently dangerous (see bit.ly/20WBkul). In addition, two hangers, one of which is a leeper hanger, towards the center of the wall are spinners that stick nearly a quarter inch of the way out of the rock on their bolts. Be aware of these problems, and set back up anchors. Feb 15, 2016
