(10) Red Light District

New Mexico > Albuquerque Area > Palomas Peak

Description

This is the furthest left area at Palomas and the character of climbing is generally shorter routes with a different setting. At this end of the cliff the broad, wooded cliff base is replace with thick shrub oak brush growing right up to the cliff base trail. The lack of shade is off-set by beautiful views of the Sandias and the landscape to the west. The cliff top can be accessed via an easy scramble by traversing to the far left end of the cliff just past WYSIWYG.

** All routes are equipped with steel lowering hardware. Please avoid toproping through the lowering hardware as both gates of the hooks are oriented facing forward and don't offer sufficient protection for toproping. Instead, build your own anchor with personal gear and have only the last person lower off the fixed lowering hardware.
