Description

AKA: Frog On A Lily Pad, This tower is visible from Moab, on the rim above potash road. This tower doesn't get a ton of traffic, and has some loose/bad rock on it. Good outing if your looking for a half day adventure.
RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek Details

Getting There

To get to Point of Moab, park at the Jaycee Campground, located on potash road. From here take the portal overlook trail, to the tower. The hike takes about 20-30 min.

We just did this the "easy" way, by hiking around the Portal Trail past the tower and up over the rim, and then hiking back to access it from behind. After an exposed traverse over to the lower right side of the tower, you start up the obvious crack with a small bulge at the start. Then it's just an easy bolt ladder and some scrambling up to the top. I put "easy" in parentheses because the hike itself is the hard part. But the views, and getting on top of something I've been staring at for over 20 years made the hike worth it. May 22, 2016
