Access Issue: RAIN & WET ROCK Details

Stoney Point sandstone is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp (and not powdery dry sand), then do not climb. There are many gyms in the area if you need a fix!

Description

Big righthand section of wall above Topanga Canyon Boulevard, facing west, shady in the morning and sunny in the afternoon.

Often overlooked in favor of, let's say, Beethoven's. However anyone interested in fairly intense 5.10 steep face climbing need look no further - the routes are very good, and big for Stoney Point.

60m rope recommended.

Still has some loose flakes - leave well alone after the rain.

Getting There

Use trail from Boulder 1 leads to the base of the Wall, a buttress to the right provides access (at low Class 5) to the top and anchoring options.
