Description
There are well over a 150 problems to be had from overhanging jugs to slabby slopers, and everything in between. Expect mostly sound rock, good landings, and an amazing place to watch the sun set. Grades run from V-easy to double digit test pieces.
Due to the complex layout it may take a few visits to get aquatinted with the area.
Getting There
From the Courthouse square in Prescott drive east on Gurley street until you hit Senators Hwy. Take a right (south) on this and follow it up a long ways until you pass through Groom Creek (collection of houses). Up the road a bit further you'll start to notice boulders on the road side. Park at a large dirt pullout on the right at an intersection with a fire road ("S Spur Ln” on Google map. It's no longer a school bus lot as noted earlier. This road leads down to the Fire Road boulders). Most of the bouldering lies across the road up the hill with warmups and some harder stuff right in sight. Continue beyond these roadside rocks to the main boulderfield.
You can also drive a bit farther down the highway and park at the Trail 307 trailhead on the short loop road that leads to Camp Wamatochick. This loop encircles The Island boulders. This is also good parking if your goal is the Whole World or Lifestyles areas. To reach the main boulderfield, Hike 307 until you begin to see boulders on your left.
