Description

Prescott is the epicenter of some of the finest bouldering to be had mid state. Though many of the in-town bouldering crags have been plagued with access issues for decades, I know stealthy sessions are still being had by considerate locals.

Fortunately, larger areas surround the city, and because of elevation differences, chances are you can find a place with good weather despite bad weather in the area. So whether it's granite slopers at Groom Creek, basalt pockets at Thumb Butte, or the crisp crimps of Watson Lake, chances are you will find whole areas that will leave you torched and satisfied... For a while anyway.

Rough Draft of NEW Groom Creek Bouldering Guide For Sale:

I have been working on a bouldering guide book for the granite boulders of Groom Creek in Prescott, AZ for the last 6 months. Unfortunately, I can no longer work on it because I am moving out of state for a job.
The rough draft contains almost 500 problems with color photos of each. With both visual and written descriptions of each route and approaches. There are at least 100 new problems that have been undocumented or not climbed. All the problems are on the forested granite boulders out at Groom Creek with the exception of three small areas at Thumb Butte (basalt). This guide is by far more thorough, detailed, and includes a much larger area than the present guide published in 2006.

At this point, all that the new author needs to do is climb the problems and put them in a nice format, create an overview map, print it and sell it. I have also created a list of vendors, an index, and have several price quotes from regional printers. My plan was to create a nice 250 page full-color guide that would retail for 34.95. At this price there is enough room for a 100% margin on each book!! And that does not even include selling ad space!!

There is a huge market for this guide. Groom Creek and the other areas around Prescott have tons of rock. Plus, you can climb all year around! Future editions will certainly be possible.

I am asking $1500 for this draft. The guide is a hand drawn paper format which has been transferred to electronic format, written in Microsoft Word Publishing. The electronic version is photos with graphic overlays with route descriptions and approaches. You will have complete control and all the rights for it.

Serious inquiries only.
