Clem's Holler Area

Washington > Central-E Casca… > Leavenworth > Tumwater Canyon

Description

Clem's Holler and the surrounding crags (Puzzle Palace, Nut House, Special Spot, Retardant Rock) offer a wide variety of climbs. Most of the climbs are single pitch, though some multi-pitch options exist. Most climbs require some supplemental gear, though there are also some nice purely bolted climbs. Most of the crags face south and have lots of sun exposure.

Getting There

To find the Clem's Holler area, drive about 0.5 miles west out of Leavenworth. Park in a pullout on the south side of the road, across from a "Deer for 7 miles" sign on the north side. The approach trail begins about 100 yards up from the pullout on the north side of the road.

[Hide Comment] There are three routes between clems and the nut house, anyone care to share info? I thought a 9 and 2 10a's and liked the rightmost. Jun 30, 2008

[Hide Comment] Correction on the approach beta: the trail heads up about 100ft from the parking, not 100 yards. May 23, 2013

[Hide Comment] The approach is steep but worth the while. Each of the crags has one or more worthwhile routes of the sport and trad variety, especially in the 5.10 range. May 12, 2016

[Hide Comment] I want to clarify this for others new to this area.
The trail head is located at 47.586603, -120.687305; just 20 feet behind [ West ] of the 'Deer: FOR 7 MI' sign. If you find a route in a cave to the East you are not on the correct trail. Sep 20, 2020
