Description

The Sheriff's Badge is the large wall on the Chief between the North and South Gullies marked by a distinctive white "badge". The wall is fairly difficult in nature with the easiest climbs in the 5.10 range. It is bounded on the left by the magnificent Angel's Crest, and the uber-classic Daily Planet runs strait up the badge.

Getting There

From the Apron parking lot, walk down the forest road about 600 meters. There are two paths, the right leads to the base of the Sheriff's Badge, while the left leads to the base of Angel's Crest. Both are fairly overgrown, depite the traffic, so look closely, they are easy to miss.

In cleaning up the database to remove duplicate entries, I had to delete Colin Moorehead's entry for this Wall. Here's the text of how he described it:

Description

Along with the Zodiac Wall, the Badge is one of the two major north faces of the Chief. 3 major aid lines ascend through the large roof at mid height. Most of the free climbing takes place on the lower left hand side of the Badge feature. A free climb through the center of the wall is one of the last major free climbing challenges in Squamish.

Getting There

Trail starts about 50 meters west of the Angels Crest Trail along the Mamquam forest service road. About 15 minutes to the base. The parking is one of the more common places for vehicle break ins. Sep 7, 2010
