Description

A great little picnic area with a nice creek and huge trees that give loads of shade. The rock is broken and the climbing is steep with mixed bolts, pitons and gear placements. Many of the routes wander a bit and long draws seem to help a lot. A nice warm-up is Hibatchi Time but be sure to do Wienie Roast.

This is a Forest Service picnic area administered by a private company. Park across the road if you don't feel like paying the fee - just like Storm Mountain.

Getting There

The first picnic area on the left after the S-curves. Walk up the staircase and to the wall at the back of the picnic area.

It would be great if people wouldn't bring/break glass bottles up here. Pretty frustrating, but I suppose I understand why there isn't any picnic tables up here anymore. Not a bad idea to bring a trash bag up here to be a good Samaritan as the area deserves better than that, and likely wont get it unless someone goes out of their way to clean it up. As mentioned the stairs and picnic tables are gone, so be sure to find the most developed trail up to the ledges to avoid erosion. It is the first paved pull out on your left as you pass the S curves going up canyon. Jun 21, 2016
Actually, the Forest Service spent over a month her this summer ('13), removing all the signs they could find of human impact. The elderly couples who serve as campground hosts for the commercial vendor decided they didn't like picking up the trash that was everywhere. The FS couldn't pay to keep it clean either so they decided to rip it out. It was a lot cleaner this summer so we'll see how it goes in the future. Jan 26, 2014

The rockslides that occurred throughout the Wasatch in 2013 took out the picnic area so there aren't any benches and the trail is being reconstructed - it was simple to orient to the climbs without the tables. Sep 5, 2013
