Access Issue: Stone Free & Ice Palace are off limits to climbing! Details

Stone Free and Ice Palace are on state-owned Division of Wildlife land that is part of the trout hatchery and hence are off limits to all climbing, including mixed and ice climbing. These climbs are not part of city-owned land that makes up Rifle Mountain Park.

Description

The canyon generally runs north-south. Most, if not all, of the ice climbs are on the west side of the canyon, east-facing cliffs.

Per Michael Schneiter: as you drive through the canyon, the order would be:

Stone Free, WI5+, 1p, 115', screws.
Ice Palace, WI5-6, 1p, 115', screws.
Soul On Ice, WI5+, 1p, 115', screws.
Lower Ice Cave
Tree Slab, WI4-5, 1p, 80', screws.
Final Curtain WI4-5, 1p, 80', screws.

Getting There

As you drive into the canyon, the west is on your left hand side. Look up and left as you drive, and you can't miss the climbs. Rejoice in the ultra mega short approach.
