Description

****The boulder has fallen over as of early 2022*** The routes do not exist as described. They are now historical references.

This rectangular rock's clean West Face features four distinct lines and can be identified by a small (3 foot) hueco on it's bottom left side. The independent lines from right to left are the Right Arete (V2), the sloper problem (V4), the Short Bus (V8) and a nasty V5 from the hueco to the left arete. One can also ascend only the top few moves of the short bus around v4 and sit start the left arete at V0+

Getting There

The Short Bus is located some 20 yards South of Skunk Rub Boulder just detached from the lower ridge. Also, Fromunda Boulder is immediately behind the Short Bus on the lower ridge and Dead Tree Rock is above on the upper ridge. Also in the immediate area is 2x4 boulder on the lower ridge, just to the south.

[Hide Comment] This rock is no longer with us. It flipped over onto its face. Jan 19, 2022
[Hide Comment] HughC, do you happen to have any pictures of this? I looked (not hard) for this a few days ago (1/17) and didn't see anything weird, and I've been to this area about 20 times in the last 4 months. Jan 20, 2022

[Hide Comment] Just got back there and snapped two photos. You can see the top of the rock and if you look closely, see the former face and chalked holds now oriented towards the ground. Apr 3, 2022
[Hide Comment] Nice pics. A little scary that 2 boulders have decided to just break out of nowhere here at Carter Lake just in the last year. Jun 10, 2022
