Description

High Profile Wall is a funky crag with several, seldom climbed, Clear Creek test pieces. This crag appears to sit almost on top of the road and its clean, main wall faces West and North. Hungry Wolf and Stuffed Wolf are a pair of well bolted 5.13s that are less than half a rope length and share an anchor. Puppy Chow is ostensibly a top rope problem, although getting the TR set up would seem more challenging than it was worth. Scramble up to a rough ledge via an exposed 50 foot 5.1 face. This scramble can be protected with a few wires if that seems prudent. HPW is a good spot to work out some hard moves with minimal commitment and an endless stream of onlookers to cheer you on.

Getting There

8.2 miles West of the intersection of US 6, CO 58, and CO 93 is a pullout on the South side of the road. This can be used for both the High Profile Wall and A Little Piece of South Dakota. It is necessary to wade across the stream for both crags. The best spot for wading varies with the season but is usually up-stream of HPW.

The left finish to Hungry Wolf is called Teen Wolf. F.A. D. Peavey. Glad you guys liked it, thought it turned out well. Mar 29, 2015

Patrick, I thought the variation up left is a cool way to keep things in the 12b area, since you don't pull any of the crux moves up higher. Pretty cool variation. Not sure who bolted it. Mar 27, 2015

Any input on the left finish for Hungry Wolf? I did it yesterday and thought it was a nice addition to the wall. It still has the big boulder problem on Hungry Wolf, followed up by some decent crack/face climbing that will continue to clean up.
Thanks Mar 25, 2015
In the '70s, I rope-soloed the two short cracks that face upstream. Those are mostly parallel-sided and were hard to protect without cams. Mar 24, 2015

Someone has draws on Mouse Meat, there is no project. Apr 8, 2013
Anyone know what the new line on this formation is? Driving through the canyon yesterday I saw a line with project draws to the left of the Wolf routes... looks pretty rad! Apr 8, 2013
