Jaws is an obscure 800 foot long rib of rock, lost in the canyon between the Second and Third Flatiron. It rises from the canyon and runs Southeast. Its summit is the highest point in the rib of rock between the East and West Ironing boards.

The only route on this rock that I know of, follows its ridge from the base of the canyon and climbs / traverses left (South) 800 feet of lichen covered rock (5.0-5.2).

The ridge is broken into a many triangular pieces explaining the name of the rock. Bridging these breaks only add to the spice....

So, if you are in need of practice for left side traverses or need an unorthodox way to reach the top of the Ironing Boards, then Jaws is the ticket.

Hike the Bluebell shelter trail and take the standard East face approach to the Third Flatiron. Before you cross the boulderfield leading to the Third Flatiron, hike West on a faint trail. This trail will climb uphill between the Second and Third Flatirons. Continue hiking past the top of the Second Flatiron and keep a sharp eye to the South, soon after, the bottom of Jaws will become visible.
