Saddle Boulders

California > San Francisco B… > Wine Country/No… > Nut Tree Boulders > Hillcrest Boulders
Warning Access Issue: Hillcrest Parking Issue DetailsDrop down

Description

A couple very overhung problems populate the steep sides of these two boulders located on the saddle between two higher hills. The uphill-facing parts of both rocks however, are not steep at all, making for easy walk-offs.

Getting There

Upon leaving Hillcrest Road, walk through the gate then straight to the left to pick up the trail that goes under the barbed-wire fence. Follow the faint (and getting fainter) trail straight uphill for about 10 minutes. The lower of the two Saddle boulders should become visable from quite far away.

In case you get disoriented, just uphill from the Saddle boulders is a much better trail that goes between the two hill-tops to the left and right of the saddle.

A nice line on Saddle Boulder, unlisted in the guide but feels like V4-5ish (?). Fun regardless.
