Description Suggest change

The north pillar of Big Chief used to hold only one route - a bolted .10a of the same name, but that route no longer has bolts. Instead, two 12's have been bolted about 100 feet further north.

They both start off a ledge about 20 feet of 5.3 off the trail. They are slightly overhung with tricky hands and both have chains atop them.

The left-most one can be toproped by soloing 5.7 or trad leading the dirty dihedral (gear to 2 inches) just left of the bolted face.

Getting There Suggest change

From the north wall at big cheif just continue along the path. The north pillar is visable from most of the Oven, yet the two bolted routes are around the corner.

Ascend 20 feet of easy broken basalt to the belay ledge.

You can see the bolts from the ground.
