Access Issue: Red Rock RAIN AND WET ROCK: The sandstone is fragile and is very easily damaged when wet.
Details
Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm, the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN RED ROCKS during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp (and not powdery dry sand), then do not climb. There are many alternatives (limestone, granite, basalt, and plastic) nearby.
HUMAN WASTE Human waste is one of the major issues plaguing Red Rocks. The Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council and the AAC provides free "wag bags" in several locations (Black Velvet, First Pullout, Kraft Mtn/Bouldering, The Gallery, and The Black Corridor). These bags are designed so that you can pack your waste out - consider bringing one to be part of your kit (just like your rope and shoes and lunch) no matter where you go. Once used, please dispose of them properly (do not throw them in the toilets at the parking area).
Description
A nice black varnished wall with one pitch routes from 5.0 to 5.12, mostly mixed trad/sport. Shady in the afternoon.
Getting There
This crag is located in the wash north of Kraft mountain. The crag can be accesed from either downstream or upstream directions. If comming from the upstream side: walk through the gap near the yin and yang crack, follow the trail down to the wash, and continue in the wash for ~5 to 10 minutes, on the right, slightly past sunny and steep is a black varnish wall. This is the Winter Heat wall. From the downstream direction: continue past he monkey bar boulder for ~20 minutes, passing the Cannabis crag on your right, Winter Heat wall is the black varnish wall up on the left before sunny and steep.
[Hide Comment] We have been there in mid November and we did not catch any sun. Maybe super early in the morning. I can't immagine how the sun could hit the base of the crag even in high summer.

[Hide Comment] April 27, 2023 the wall went into the shade at 11am, and the base and area below the cliff became even more shaded as the day progressed. Vegas temps were in the low 90s but we were very comfortable climbing there.
