Description

This formation is located across the road (NE) from Quail Springs Picnic Area (aka Trashcan Rock) and offers a variety of moderate routes. The most popular aspect of the cliff faces south (toward the road) and has a very short approach. Park in the Quail Springs Picnic Area paved parking lot or directly in front of the cliff along the side of the road (make sure you are parked fully off the pavement).

A few of the better routes are Boulder Crack (5.8), Andromeda Strain (5.7), and Spaghetti Sauce Sunset (5.10c).

Descent is off the back of the formation (north, away from the road).

Getting There

AFPA Rock is a couple hundred yards east and across the road from Quail Springs Picnic Area (aka Trashcan Rock). The south aspect faces Quail Springs Road.

[Hide Comment] Afpa Rock is one of the few formations that allow you to escape the wind. The top is another story. Feb 22, 2004
