The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

A massive roof with a striking flawless 15' hand crack splitting it make this an unmistakable and unforgettable formation and route. This is More Monkey Than Funky, (5.11b/c), certainly one of the better roof cracks in Joshua Tree or in Southern California.

Getting There

From the Barker Dam parking area wander west angling towards the base of the long line of rock formations to your north. You will shortly wander into a wash of sorts and after a couple of hundred yards you will see the big roof and the formation as a very obvious detached formation on your right and very close. The More Monkey Than Funky roof is visible from the drive into the Barker Dam parking area.
