Approach to Hecla Junction Talus

Head south along the Arkansas river on a trail for about a mile, after this the trail ends and for the next half mile stay close to the river, once you come to an irrigation ditch depending on time of year you can walk on the river side bank of the ditch to avoid scrambling the steep hillside and talus boulders.
