Follow yellow reflective blazes on the trees through the large Mono Village campground to reach the trailhead, which is marked by a small sign that reads Barney Lakes TH.

Hike west along Robinson Creek Trail until you reach the big pine tree and two huge white boulders marking the turn off for Little Slide Canyon.

Follow use trail to a natural log bridge up to steep switchbacks then into the canyon following a relatively flat trail. Cairns guide you through talus and trees for 1.5 miles until a large talus field where you cross the stream. Stay on the right side of the stream through granite ledges marked by cairns until you get to a flatter area west of the Hulk where you can easily cross over to the talus leading to the base.
