Description Suggest change

This sunny cliff is also known as the Zellerwand. While the cliff generally faces south, there are trees at the base that provide some shade in hot weather. Many of the route names (some accompanied by grades), are painted in red enamel at the bottom of the wall. Total approach from the parking area is roughly 10-15 minutes.

CAMPING: You can camp at the campground right below the cliff for roughly 20 Euros. The campground website is: Camping Zellersee

It is also possible to camp on Chiemsee: chiemsee-camping.de (8 Euros) or more secluded: camping-seehaeusl.de/index_… (4.50 Euros) or perhaps the best spot: camping-harras.de/ (5 Euros). All have beautiful warm showers, and are on the lake.

HOSTELS: jugendherberge.de/jh/bayern… Prien is a bustling town on the lake, the hostel is in town.

Getting There Suggest change

From Munich, take the A8 south (from Garmisch, ake the A95 North to the 472 through Bad Tölz to the A8 south) and get off at Bernau am Chiemsee exit. Go through Bernau and follow the 305 south to Grassau. Turn right (south) on the 307 through Marquartstein toward Schleching. After Reiten and Emperbichl, there will be a developed campground on the right side of the road and the cliffs will be clearly visible above and behind the campground.

Park in the parking area outside of the campground (1 Euro parking fee as of 04/2022). Walk into the campground past a couple of permanent buildings until you see a white sign pointing right to the climbing. Walk roughly 100 feet with fences on both sides of you (a pond is on the left and campsites on the right) to reach a dirt road/hiking trail. Go left on the dirt road/hiking trail, passing the pond on your left and a volleyball court. About another 100 yards up this road (and about 50 yards before you reach a barn), you'll see the cliff up on the right.

There are two approach trails that leave the dirt road/hiking trail. The right (main) trail goes up and right to routes that are roughly behind the campground. The left (minor) trail goes to the sectors on the left side of the wall. Total approach time from parking to the base of the cliff is about 10-15 minutes.

The cliff generally faces south.
