DescriptionThis crag had not seen a lot of development last time I was out there, but that was at least 12 years ago. The granite is not the best quality but the view is brilliant and your not gonna see another soul climbing there. Getting ThereHead up the 168 from Fresno towards Shaver Lake. Pass the town of Shaver and eventually hang a left towards Big Creek near Dogma Dome. The Yeti Dome formation is actually visible from one point while driving before you reach the turnoff to Big Creek and after you have passed Shaver. You wont drive far when you'll see a dirt road headed West and uphill off of the Big Creek road. This road is marked Musick mountain and this is the actual mountain Yeti Dome is part of. Take this and park at the gate and enjoy a 45 minute uphill walk or if lucky drive through the gate to the top of the mountain (make sure you dont get locked in). You will top out at a lookout tower/repeater station and then walk towards the south along a rounded ridge until reaching the cliffs. Stay high and do not be tempted to cut down to the east. Climb back out right to the arete and up some powerful moves through the crux and up to some easier 5.10 terrain....[more] Browse More Classics in CA |
