DescriptionThe Green River area is a long and winding river valley that drains several major glaciers (including Mammoth, Minor, & Stroud) located on the northwestern slopes of the Wind River range. Melt water from the Green makes its long journey past the Upper and Lower Green River Lakes and eventually, hundreds of miles south mixes with the waters of the Colorado River. Getting ThereTake 191 west 6 miles from Pinedale, turn right at sign for Cora and Green River Lakes (WY-352), follow this paved road approximately 20 miles until pavement runs out, than keep following dirt road for 19 miles until you reach the Green River campground and trailhead. The Highline trail (also the CDT) begins at the Lower Green River Lake and takes you up the Green River valley past the Upper Green Lake, Squaretop and on to the high peaks.
