Beagle - That is getting way too specific to judge a send with. I will sometimes not tape for thin hands and tape for teacups, as do many climbers. Would that technique also not count?
According to his article in Alpinist 20, Takeda used the knee pad more to make the knee lock less painful. Have you done Squat, Beagle?
That's not meant as an attack, its just that of the people I've met who've done squat, its kind of mixed bag. I've not even attempted it, so I can't comment on the actual legitimacy of Pete's send.
I was totally joking, taping you knee to fit... c'mon! And yes I have done Squat, twice in fact, and I did tape my hands. Pete is a great climber and an even better person.
