Wolcott / Lime Creek Beta

I am going to be camping around Red Cliff for the first week of July and am hoping to do a bunch of climbing. I climb sport and trad up to low 5.11.

I am primarily looking at Wolcott and Lime Creek. I bought the Western Sloper guide book, but wanted to know if anyone had any good tips or beta. There does not seem to be much on Wolcott out there in particular.

Also would appreciate any input on good places to eat, nearby hot springs, and other cool rest day activities.

Thanks MP Community!

Is Wolcott off limits these days?

Wolcott is on limits, but the access is tricky. Technically, it is illegal to walk across the RR bridge, but you can always wade the river, then walk west and up the hill or cross the bridge anyway, but dont get caught.
There is not a lot of published info on the routes there. The developer and locals keep it relatively underground, and apparently get upset at things being posted online (so ive heard).
Lime creek is great, but relatively far from walcott, once you get off the road in eagle you have to drive for 30 minutes, but the stone is amazing and has seen a ton of development in recent years. Not sure whats published on lime creek, but there are climbs abound, and way better camping out there than in Walcott. Take a bear bag and watch for Mtn lions... they are out there, really.
If you were interested in staying down in lime creek area the camping is much better and temps a lot cooler. If you were going to do that, I would go climb 'the skillet' by Reudi reservoir, or the stuff over Hagermans pass.

food, 'the dusty boot' in eagle is great. the avon bakery in avon are fantastic. the walcott yacht club is also a cool spot for a beer. and the suggested floating the upper C ('state bridge') is a must for an off day, or hot mid day escape from rock.

There are crags near red cliff and you can always go up to indy pass which is super excellent.

Will you PM me the name of a local with beta for Wolcott?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
