Closed MORE INFO >>>
Santa Clara County Department of Parks and Recreation Dept. has closed Summit Rock to climbing year-round to protect peregrine falcons. The AF is working to reduce this to a closure for the nesting season only, which is the standard management approach.
This information is a public crowdsourcing effort between the Access Fund,
and Mountain Project. You should confirm closures, restrictions, and/or related dates.

Keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment

Description A great route, mixed trad/sport for leaders, one of the few moderates at Summit Rock. About halfway down the "Lower Tier" in Morris's guidebook. You'll notice a prominent "chimney" in the lower portion of the climb, topped by a chockstone. After surmounting the chockstone, climb to a ledge, where a (surprise) wide crack begins. The crack offers a super-fun intro to liebacking and ascends 20-25 feet to the anchor.
Protection A small crack on the left of the lower chimney will take a small nut. Tie off chockstone at the top of the chimney. Two bolts protect the namesake wide crack. Two-bolt anchor, irritatingly close to the lip if you want to rappel!
