In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only "orphans" that could be found quickly, were a litter of weaner pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.
Me and the offspring walking back to the car after a day of cragging.

Day 8 with no smokes. Feel great. I don't even want to choke anyone anymore. Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. I was pushing hard to try and quit, and all the posts here helped a lot believe it or not. This is the ONE time that I'm glad I got involved in something having to do with the internet. Thanks again. Sincerely.

Good job, Jake!

In my experience, it really does get easier the longer you are away from nicotine. When you start seeing the positive changes in your body (improved taste, smell, and better endurance), it becomes even easier to stay away from the smokes.

I am happy for you! Keep up the good work.

Thanks! When do you stop coughing up shit that's worse than when you were smoking?

A couple of weeks??? It was almost seven years ago when I quit, so my memory is not that accurate. I do remember the vile, brown lung-turds being much worse for a while afterwards. It was disgusting, but I was just happy to be getting that shit out of my body.

Again, good job and hang in there!

The best is when you start doing lots of cardio exercise and sweat a lot, then see the black stuff coming out of the pores on your face. That's when you know you are finally getting it out of your system.

Good job on stopping tobacco. Unlike marijuana, tobacco is carcinogenic and inflammatory -- two things that will sabotage your health in the long run.

A couple of locals. Took this pic in my driveway.

Jake your life will only improve. I smoked for about 20 years, quit 10 years ago. If what Delta Bravo had to say doesn't get you to quit nothing will.

My wife and I spent most of this last winter in Baton Rouge nursing her dad through his last days. You want no part of that.

Stick it out Jake, show yourself at least that much love. Good Luck!

really? while THC may not be carcinogenic, it is my understanding that there are just as many carcinogens in pot smoke as tobacco smoke?! are you claiming that pot is a "safe" drug?

Dude!!! Incredible thread! Rock on Jake! Proof that all of us climbers are rude and dumb. I don't even feel like starting a argument with anyone on the internet today, I just want to go help somebody now. haha

Man, I feel for anyone who has had to battle that addiction. One thing that really helps me when I am craving one is just to take a huge, deep breath - Especially in the first few weeks after quitting, you just feel how much bigger and better those breaths are. Huge motivation to stay away! Damn you spliffs, damn you.

I know when I smoked weed regularly many years ago, it didn't feel great. I mean, the euphoric buzz did, but my lungs didn't. It's my understanding that although it doesn't contain any poisonous synthetic chemicals (debatable?) it does still leave tar deposits in the lungs. No? Anywho, I'm not anti-weed, and I may just be talking out of my ass. Thanks Josh.

Yes, it's true: smoking (combusting) marijuana is not carcinogenic, and likely will not result in cancer. Smoking tobacco IS carcinogenic and will result in cancer. And marijuana inhaled through a vaporizer is almost devoid of any harmful effects at all. Check it out!

That's an interesting study. It almost makes me want to go buy some weed and a vaporizor. However, why is it that all the heavy dope smokers I know are really slow, delayed - kind of retarded? The super heavy ones I've met have serious hair issues, and look prematurely aged, sometimes with almost deformed faces? That's my study of it, anyway.

I don't care if smoking anything kills you or not, just don't smoke in Colorado right now at the crags as there is a statewide ban on smoking due to fire danger (except for in your house or car, or far from anything that may catch on fire).

I have looked for a statewide ban, but have not been able to find any information stating that there is a statewide ban (I wish there were). If you have that information, I would love to know what agency has imposed the statewide ban.

The BLM has banned smoking on their lands throughout the state, and Larimer County has imposed a smoking ban ( larimer.org/news/newsDetail.cfm?id=1500 ). The Larimer ban includes some areas of RMNP.

Sorry for the thread drift.

Congrats to all that are kicking the habit. I cannot imagine how hard it is.

The statewide ban does not include campfires in existing pits, but there are county bans in place as well that could be more restrictive.

The county by county list is available on the link above if you scroll down the page

Yeah it may not really by statewide, but I think in most counties if you look at each web page......

Gilpin, Park, El Paso, Boulder, Jeffco etc etc

all BLM in COlorado, and this is what is on many USFS web pages....

"No Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, in a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least 3 (three) feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material"
