The White Cliffs of Dover, Joshua Tree NP

Description 

This lesser visited portion of the White Cliffs is home to a small number of quality routes such as Shibumi (5.10d), Red Tide (5.10d), Red Snapper (5.11a) and Soviet Union (5.11c).


Getting There 

Standard approach from Quail Springs Picnic Area then head right along the cliffband when at the base. Plan on 30-40 minutes from the car.

Not easy to get to, but well worth the hike. Once you reach the cliff base and warm up with the awesome 5.9's Popular Mechanics and Ace of Spades, follow the cliff further uphill to your right for about 150 meters. You will arrive at Soviet Union. The crack is shaped like a left-facing sickle (hence the name) and starts in a small left-facing corner capped by a roof.
