exchanging kicks as the base of Green A
Hey,

Trying to get out and climb before exams come due. Anything accessible? I'm assuming the Flatirons are prohibited because of the trail closures? I'd like to get on some long moderates, but anything will do.

I went to rampart range in the south platte yesterday, it was pretty good stuff.

Viking helmet cover, yep.
Your closest bet is Clear Creek or Table Mountain (both in Golden). All OSMP land in Boulder county is closed. Long moderates: maybe try Playin' Hooky or

Deep water solo'ing in Thailand.
Hwy 14 through the Poudre canyon was also washed out in several places. It's going to be a while before it opens.

How is Castlewood Canyon doing? I imagine it is still a place to visit to get away from the crowds.
On a more serious note, I would think that Ra and the Halidome, up in Empire would be getting some visitation until it gets cold up there. That's very good climbing anyway and merits the visit flood or not.
Too bad neither are closer to Boulder.

Though, I bet Ved is still open for business! Yeah, the campground is open on the Nat Forest website. There are some really nice sport climbs going in up there. mountainproject.com/v/sketch-p... KateC

I'm going to be in Boulder from the 8th to the 14th of October. Any thoughts from the locals as to whether anything will be open then? Thanks. sanz

Only the previously mentioned areas. There's still been no definitive word on Eldo, Bocan or the Flatirons.
The general feeling is that Edlo and Boulder Canyon aren't going to be accessible for at least a few months.

Looking at going to castlewood or table mountain in a week or two, according to their park websites both locations are still open for climbing.

Rapping off of South Six Shooter.
Lover's Leap off of 285 has a few fun trad climbs as well with super easy access. I climbed there Sunday and didn't see another person. There is also Golden Gate Canyon and Staunton state park. GGC has a couple of trail closures I think, but is open for the most part. James Hicks

The road crew is in Eldo working now.
I'm a little more optimistic.

HWY 14 is open. There is road work and some road damage, so it might be slower going than usual.

Devil's Head and other South Platte areas had few impacts from the storm. In fact, Douglas County road crews graded Rampart Range Road last Thursday. Most of these areas are a much shorter drive than the Poudre or certainly Estes Park right now. Tzilla Rapdrilla

You can actually get there pretty easily (from Denver area) by taking Clear Creek to the peak to peak highway (119 to 72). Dumps you out in Allenspark. Takes about 1/2 hour longer to get to Estes, but a pretty drive at least. All is open, but expect to get behind a lot of big trucks!
