| Shaded routes in Zion are considerably cooler than at Red Rock. Most Tunnel Wall (Cragmont) routes have at least one Indian Creek quality pitch on them. Gypsy's Curse , Feast of Snakes, Pick on the Fat Kid, POW Right in the Rat, Lap Dance. Other options in Zion...Smash Mouth in the morning is ideal this time of year....so is Cynthia's Hand Job, did it yesterday, beautiful temps. The above mentioned routes are much stouter than Red Rock routes though...you need to be proficient at the grade/cracks (5.11). If you need lower grades, Dark Shadows and Black Velvet walls over at RR are the coolest temp wise. Going in, coming out is going to be hot as hell no matter which canyon you choose at RR though. If you are local sport climbers, check out the high elevation sport crags around here. My wife and I cut the temp in F in half one year, 110 to 55 in 1.5hrs drive to Running Scared Wall. Good Luck. | FLAG |
