Some of the stellar bouldering on the Weller appro...

This is a South-facing slab above the Weller Campground. It has solid rock and excellent views in all directions. The most obvious feature is the right-facing Zanzibar Dihedral.

There are a few sport routes, but mostly the routes are trad.

Getting There

Park either in the Weller Lake trailhead parking or directly across from the campground entrance. There are two small pull-outs there.

Approach is through the campground, there is a trail starting out of campground host site (2007 anyway). Then it is up the obvious talus field to the base of the slab.

This is a fun, right-facing corner with great gear. Stem, layback, jam your way up to a crux move as the corner leans right. The corner pinches at this point for a move and then there is a great jam, pull around a small bulge on excellent holds, and you are home free....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO

As of July, 2013, there was a fallen tree blocking the start of the access trail from the camp host site. An alternative trail starts at the back of campsite #6. From there, the trail goes direct to the edge of the talus field and then ascends a bit on the side of the talus before going out into it. There are cairns the entire way up to the base of the slab. It's really not that bad, either. Took us probably 20 minutes from the car to the base.
