Weekend climbing partners needed
|
Hi all, I'm looking for more climbing partners to get out to local climbing more (e.g. G Dodge, Wyalusing, Starved Rock). I live in Chicago and will have a car beginning next week. I'm looking to get in as much mileage as possible this season, and need partners for casual weekend day trips. I'm pushing WI3 leads when conditions are good, and want to get solid by the end of the season. |

I'm pushing WI3 leads when conditions are good, and want to get solid by the end of the season. Although I'm fairly new to ice climbing, (this is my third season), most of what I have climbed has been in the NE. I only have one local ice partner and don't want to rely on his availability exclusively to get out there for casual weekend day trips. If you're in a similar boat, shoot me a message. I'd like to take advantage of this cold snap and head out this weekend if anyone's up for that specifically (1/10 or 1/11).If you are in Chicago, you need to come out and check out our ice at Nice Ice. A great place to meet some great climbing partners to get out on natural ice with. See Here: PlayWildIL.com just 45 min. South of Downtown. This is the best place to get in as much climbing as you can with the least travel and expense.... we have belayers all the time, so no partner needed. Thanks! |

Thanks but after a week in ouray I think I've had my fill of farmed ice. |

There will be a group from Madison headed to Wyalusing on Sunday. Feel free to join us. |

If you happen to guide and need a partner for a last minute trip that's cool. But, if you're looking for clients I'm not your man.It was obvious you did not need a guide(not looking for clients either) but you said you wanted to get the most "mileage" and the silo if the best closest place to do just that- Just ask Will Gadd who climbed there with us last year. That being said, we are planning a trip next weekend for 3 days to WI to hit a couple of spots. PM me if you can join us. We will be staying at our place up there. My post was just to share info that you asked about. Most natural ice is just not coming in very good yet. Thanks! :) |

I'm around and get out regularly, PM me to check anytime you're in the mood to come up, if I can, I'll meet you. |

It's the same reason why I've had two non-climbing colleagues approach me today about climbing on the Dawn Wall. Although I doubt we'll see Juggler's silo in the NYT anytime soon, unless he can get Will Gadd to tell Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jurgenson to visit. |

No one has said this thread is not for FARMED ice... Sandstone included... What site are you talking about that will Talk for Itself? :) Thanks! Ice is Ice and that is "Nice Ice" no matter what ice it is! Chill dude |

If you want to connect and climb at Lone Rock or Wyalusing, LMK.... C ya! |

I believe the site mike was referencing was your webste. |

jon jugenheimer wrote:I believe the site mike was referencing was your webste.This. James, I hear yah. I suppose all of the media hype of late has soured an already sour look on climbing ethics from my perspective. Can you comment on if ice climbing without ropes at the Silo is ethical? What if I pinkpointed the 24th pitch of the Dawn Wall with Caldwell/Jorgenson last week? ;) Juggler, I agree that the thread was for climbing partners. I'll leave it at that. Chill'd MR |

Hey Bogdan, |
|
Hi my name is nancy I'm looking to purchase gear and get into ice climbing. I recently graduated from college and moved back to Chicago from Michigan. I would like to meet some people and make some friends. I've done some rock climbing at Devils lake, new river gorge, and in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Let me know if you are interested! 630-674-0092 |
|
Bogden, Alex, Nancy: I share your stories. I just moved here from CA. I have very little ice experience (A couple days on glacier walls and one visit to the nice ice silo) but have enjoyed the climbs I've done. I could be talked into purchasing some gear if I had some solid partners :) |
