UW Rock

Description

The UW Rock was one of first designated bouldering areas in the US and probably one of the earliest artificial climbing walls constructed. The series of five walls sit at the southern end of Husky stadium in Seattle. The concrete and rock walls were designed by the architects Anderson and Bell in 1975, poured onsite and completed in the spring of 1976. The walls are surrounded by a gravel bed to cushion falls. With a range of easy jug ladders to impossible eliminates, the UW rock has a wide range of problems.

Getting There

Watch out for the cement ledges, from underneath they look positive, but they are slopers! You can also spend an enjoyable afternoon traversing around the base of the tower....[more]   Browse More Classics in WA
