eric coffman leading Vina Kulafu #12

Description

The Visayas is one of the three principal geographical divisions of the Philippines, along with Mindanao and Luzon. It consists of several islands, primarily surrounding the Visayan Sea. The major islands of the Visayas are Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, and Samar.

The premiere climbing destination in the Philippines is located in here on the island of Cebu. Right in the middle of the small barangay of Cantabaco, a one hour journey through the jungle and into the island’s heart. The streaked limestone cliff stands over the small community. In a nutshell, this crag should be the first destination in the Philippines if you want a sampling of what climbing in the Philippines can offer.

Getting There

Domestic flights with the Philippines are easy to book via several low cost carriers. Check out Cebu Pacific, Zest Air, SEAIR-South East Asian Airlines, Tiger Airways, Air Phil Express, etc. Be warned that excess baggage fees can be quite expensive.

From the beginning this route means business! Boulder your way up to the first bolt with power moves and slick feet. After that it becomes a vertical balancing act with a little yoga thrown in! Use pockets, crimps, tuffa side pulls and feet that appear just as you need them. As the pump begins to build the wall begins to bulge into a slight overhang with pockets that challenge you figuring out how to use them. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
